Another strange Davis idea? Or a useful innovation? Nick Barry, a 2007 UC Davis graduate who has started a goods and service exchange that uses a new local currency, talks about the project on the next “Davisville” on KDRT 95.7 FM.
Barry, who earned a bachelor’s degree in economics and international relations, has founded Davis Dollars.
On the radio program, he talks about the exchange, what he wants to achieve, why the currency works better for services than for products, and the niche he wants to occupy in an economy where people increasingly use debit or credit cards for even small purchases.
“Davisville,” hosted by Bill Buchanan and recorded at Davis Media Access, airs at 5:30 p.m. Monday, 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, and 10:30 a.m. and 10:30 p.m. every Wednesday. The interview with Barry will air this week and Nov. 15-17.
