Kayaking Trip down Cache Creek

I have five sit-on-top kayaks which I can offer for a guided trip down Cache Creek. One section is very calm with ripples, and another stretch I’m offering has a few more rushy (not dangerous, just more thrills) rapids. Both of these trips are just below the area used for rafting Cache Creek.  If you want to be guided, only 4 of the kayaks are available (since I’ll be in one).  I have two life jackets available, which would fit a small to medium size adult.

On our last trip, we saw osprey (with fish in talons), great blue herons, swallows nesting, turtles, fish, and lots of peace and quiet.  This trip is dependent on water flow and my availability. Allow an afternoon.

About camilla

I am a nature-lover and science teacher. I recently moved to the Capay Valley (45 minutes from Davis) but have been visiting it for years. I like kayaking and river-rafting Cache Creek. I keep bees, worms, lizards, a snake, and usually chickens. I especially like foraging for wild foods and items to use in my science classes. I am proud of a nonprofit I founded: Classrooms Across Cultures (classroomsacrosscultures.org) through which I travel to Afghanistan and train teachers in hands-on science. In summer 2010, I will be making my 9th trip to Afghanistan.

Cache creek is a beautiful river flowing out of Clear Lake and running through the Capay Valley. Kayaking experience isn’t necessary to enjoy the run. We recently took a friend who had never been on a kayak. There were a few thrilling sort of moments at the top of the “rushier” run. The lower stretch is quieter but still has riffles and rapids that make the trip interesting. I don’t know what the water level will be like at the end of summer, but it seems like one year we kayaked as late as October. It may be difficult to schedule a time for the trip before I leave the country on June 17. I’ll be back at the beginning of September. I like having people visit, so am happy to offer the trips whenever schedule permits. If you’re interested, why not suggest some dates? I don’t know how many dollars to charge…any thoughts?
